Cold headings made easier
Manufacturers of quality fasteners will recognize more than one dozen grades of alloy heading wire - see products. Each one is chemically endowed for use in high temperature, high stress, or corrosive media. Through careful processing, TDC makes these tough metals easier to head, providing exact dimensions, uniform temper, and a coating matched to the job

While our technilub coating is suitable for most heading operations, we also offer KAL_GARD, soap and oil coatings for special applications. And thanks to our scalping capabilities, TDC can supply a defect-free surface for your critical jobs.

Even Tempered Spring Wire
Spring wire takes on a consistent quality at TDC-- an even temper

  • We start with large heats of material for consistency of composition.
You can except shipments up to 100,000 pounds from a single heat.
  • When annealing is required, we use standard annealing furnaces which hold temperature variations within plus or minus 2-1/2 thousandths. That virtually assures an even temper for final drawing.
  • Most of our spring wire sizes are drawn on a multi-hole drawing machines which produce a smooth finish with a tightly adherent coating-- TDC's TECHNICOAT. A bright, electro-polish quality wire is offered with an oil lubricant for your four-slide work.

Spring wire sizes range from .032" diameter to 3/8" diameter, available in small or large coils on carriers, and in straight lengths.
